ACCELERATE EDGE Conference 2017
Welcome to the EDGE conference page where you can find information on our last conference 'Accelerate', held on the 29th and 30th March 2017 at the Grand Harbour hotel, Southampton.
This page has been designed to share the Accelerate conference experience and give a taster on what you can expect from our next event in 2018. Here you can find our 2017 agenda, a gallery of our favourite snaps from the two days, and a section on our speakers. You will also find some feedback provided by some of our delegates.
This is also an opportunity to thank all of the delegates for attending and to our speakers for sharing their research knowledge and experience. We hope you can join us next time in 2018!
We didn't just accelerate research, we also celebrated success. Rebecca Xu (pictured above with Professor James Batchelor) from the Canadian Cancer Clinical Trials Network received the award 'EDGE Advocate of the Year'. Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust were awarded 'Best Recruiter to Clinical Trials on the EDGE system', and PhD student Helene Jones from University of Lincoln received recognition for her innovative research project with the 'EDGE Innovator of the Year' award.
ask the experts
During the Accelerate Conference 2017, delegates had the opportunity to meet our EDGE experts to discuss with them any issues or questions that they had and wanted some help with.
The EDGE experts were a mix of both the Knowledge and Development teams and were located in a separate boardroom, where delegates were able to drop in whenever they wished during the duration of the two days.
The EDGE Conference offers opportunities that generate meaningful debate as well as the sharing of knowledge, skills and expertise. This year's panel discussion facilitated a debate on the major challenges in clinical research.
Panel members included: Professor James Batchelor, Director of CIRU, Ed Cervantes-Watson, Head of Funding Innovation Cancer Research UK and Louise Knowles, Head of Research Policy, Department of Health.
